Kuthar Street

One of the weapons described by Tom Petrie and john Matthew which were used by the Kabi and Wakka Aboriginal tribes called the “Kuthar” throughout the region. Often referred to as a nulla nulla, by Europeans and author John Matthews described it as follows:

... a club to be thrown or for striking at close quarters. With it they hunted and fought. The heavy end was sometimes rendered more formidable by having a surrounding band of knobs carved in the solid. The kuthar were commonly made of iron-bark, but many were of brigalow...
